Hillsborough County Tax Collector Named Honorary Commander and Takes Refueling Flight at MacDill AFB

Tampa, FL — March 9, 2023

Last December, Hillsborough County Tax Collector, Nancy C. Millan, was honored to be named an Honorary Commander of the 927th Air Refueling Wing at MacDill Air Force Base.  The Honorary Commander program has become an integral part of the MacDill AFB family, as the honorees serve as ambassadors to educate and promote relations with the Tampa Bay community and to provide a support network for Airmen of the 927th Air Refueling Wing.

Honorary Commanders are paired with a wing’s senior leadership member and integrated into every aspect of the organization. Over the two-year program, each Honorary Commander, including Millan, tour Operations, Maintenance, Mission Support, and the Medical Group.  On Friday, March 3rd, Millan joined some of her fellow Honorary Commanders on a refueling flight as part of this program. “As an Honorary Commander, I was very excited to experience a refueling flight which refueled several F-16 Fighter jets in midair.”  Millan said, “It gives us a chance to learn more about the important responsibilities and contributions our service members make each and every day to keep us safe and secure.”

“Being inducted as an Honorary Commander is a tremendous honor and I welcome the opportunity to develop partnerships that positively impact our military service members, their families and our community.”  said Millan. “As a former military wife, I know the sacrifices our military and their families make each day.”
