Temporary Resident

A non-immigrant is considered a temporary resident of Florida. Temporary residents must provide proof of legal presence in this country in order to be issued a driver license or identification card in Florida. Once lawful status as been verified, and the other licensing requirements met, you may receive a Florida driver license or identification card. Temporary resident driver license and identification cards will be good for the length of your legal status, up to one year. If your documents allow for more then one year you will have to apply for a renewal and show proof of lawful status in order to extend the driver license or identification card.
