Hillsborough County Tax Collector Nancy C. Millan Joins Donate Life Florida to Honor Donor Heroes for Saving Lives Through Organ & Tissue Donation

Tampa, FL — April 6, 2023

Donor heroes and their families to be remembered with a flag raising ceremony on April 5th at the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Drew Park office.

April 3, 2023 (Tampa, Fla.) – Hillsborough County Tax Collector Nancy C. Millan, in collaboration with LifeLinkTM of Florida, invite media to join them at a special event to raise the Donate Life flag honoring donor heroes and their families who made the selfless decision to save and improve lives through organ donation. The event will be held on Wednesday, April 5th at 8:00 AM at the Tax Collector’s Drew Park location at 4100 W. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.

April is National Donate Life Month, an annual observance to encourage individuals to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors and to celebrate those that have saved lives through the gift of an organ, eye, and tissue donation. The Donate Life flag will be raised at the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Drew Park location to honor local donor heroes for their selfless decision to help others through organ, tissue, and eye donation.

County tax collector offices, across the state of Florida, provide many services to the community, including the issuance of driver licenses and identification cards, at which time customers are asked the powerful, lifesaving question, “Would you like to register to be an organ and tissue donor?” More than 90% of the over 11.8 million Floridians who have already registered as a donor, did so at their local tax collector office.

“The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s office registered more than 110,000 new registrants to the Donate Life Florida state donor registry in 2022,” said Nancy Millan. “We are proud to be a year-round partner with Donate Life Florida and we encourage everyone to register to be an organ donor today and help save lives,” she continued.

Floridians are encouraged to save lives by registering their decision by saying yes when asked during a driver license transaction at their local tax collector office or online at Donate Life Florida, the state’s organ, eye and tissue donor registry.
