HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY TAX COLLECTOR’S OFFICE KICKS OFF SAFETY MONTH 2025 EVENTS TODAY WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS

TAMPA, Fla., June 6, 2025 — The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office (HCTC) kicks off its Safety Month 2025 events today at the Brandon Office, continuing its successful community partnership throughout the month of June in honor of National Safety Month. This marks the third year of collaboration with Lions World Vision Institute and Sertoma Speech & Hearing Foundation to bring essential health services directly to the community.

National Safety Month is dedicated to promoting safety and well-being in our daily lives. HCTC’s various Safety Month events will offer both customers and team members the opportunity to participate and learn from community partners. These events will feature free vision screenings and eye exams for children ages 5-17 through the Glazer Mobile Vision Clinic, free hearing screenings and consultations for all, and safety resources from additional community partners.

“We are so proud to continue working with these outstanding organizations to bring invaluable services to our community,” said Tax Collector Nancy Millan. “Safety Month isn’t just about physical safety; it’s about ensuring our employees and Hillsborough residents have access to essential health services. What’s even better—these services will be available at your local Tax Collector’s Office this June!”

Lions World Vision Institute, dedicated to providing the gift of sight through research, vision screenings, and tissue donation, operates the largest combined eye bank and ocular research center in the world from their Tampa location. The organization has helped over 500,000 individuals receive the “Gift of Sight” and will bring the Glazer Mobile Vision Clinic to select HCTC offices throughout the month.

“We’re now in our third year of partnering with the Tax Collector’s Office to provide vital services to our community,” said Jason Woody, President and CEO of Lions World Vision Institute. “Many people put off vision and hearing checks simply because they’re busy. That’s why Lions World Vision Institute will bring back our Glazer Mobile Vision Clinic, operated for the Glazer Vision Foundation, at select Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Offices. Children will have access to free vision screenings, eye exams, and glasses right on-site!”

Sertoma Speech & Hearing Foundation, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for those with hearing and speech challenges through early detection, intervention, and treatment, provides services to over 53,000 individuals annually. Their mobile units will be stationed at various tax collector offices throughout the month.

“I’m honored to continue this partnership,” said Debra Golinski, President and CEO of Sertoma Speech & Hearing Foundation. “Both Lions World Vision Institute and the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office have been incredible collaborators, and we’re excited to return this year to provide even more essential services to the community. We’ve found that meeting people where they are removes one of the biggest barriers to getting these screenings done.”
