Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office Raises over $35,000 for Local Schools’ Art Programs Through Kids Tag Art Program

Tampa, FL — May 15, 2024

The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office proudly announces another successful year for the Kids Tag Art Program, raising $ 35,885.22 for Hillsborough County Schools’ art programs. Under the visionary leadership of Tax Collector Nancy Millan, who introduced the program to Hillsborough County in 2021, the initiative has grown from 27 participating schools to an impressive 43 schools this year.

Since its inception, the Kids Tag Art Program has been a beacon of support for arts education in our community, with an average of $700 distributed back to teachers and their art programs each year. To date, the program has raised over $140,000 for Hillsborough County schools. More than a fundraising effort, the program has engaged over 3,000 students with their artistic creations.

The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s office hosted the program’s inaugural awards ceremony on April 17, 2024, honoring the top students from each of the 43 participating schools. These 5th grade students received well-deserved recognition and awards for their outstanding designs. This year’s program saw 1,640 total student submissions and 5 teacher submissions.

The announcement of this year’s program success was made at the Hillsborough County School Board Meeting on May 14, 2024, showcasing the collaborative effort between the Tax Collector’s Office and Hillsborough County schools.

Tax Collector Nancy Millan expressed her gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and supporters of the Kids Tag Art Program, emphasizing the impact it has on fostering creativity and learning among Hillsborough County students.

“I am incredibly proud of the talent of our student artists and deeply grateful to everyone involved who make this program such a success,” said Millan. “Their support is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our community to support our schools.”

This program would not be possible without the amazing support of our sponsors, including title sponsor Suncoast Credit Union, along with Derrick Brooks Charities, Florida West Coast Credit Union, J.P. Morgan, The Perry Company, Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Museum of Art, Wilder Architecture, and the Glazer Children’s Museum.

The community can show their support for the program by becoming a sponsor, or purchasing student art on the Kids Tag Art Shop. For more information, visit hillstax.org/shop.

The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office looks forward to continuing its partnership with local schools and the community to further enrich arts education for generations to come.
