Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office Will Be Closed in Observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day
TAMPA, Fla., January 17, 2025 – The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. All office locations will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, January 21.
“Dr. King’s legacy reminds us of the importance of service to our community and the ongoing work toward equality and justice for all,” said Nancy Millan, Hillsborough County Tax Collector. “As we honor his memory, we reflect on how we can better serve every member of our diverse community with dignity and respect.”
While physical offices will be closed, customers can still access many services through the Tax Collector’s website, hillstax.org. Online services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, allowing residents to complete transactions such as property tax payments, vehicle registration renewals, and hunting and fishing license purchases.

The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office is responsible for collecting and distributing local property, tangible, business, and tourist development taxes, ensuring the funding of vital services at the state and local levels. As an agent for the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, we provide motor vehicle, vessel, and mobile home titles and registrations, issue driver licenses and ID cards, and administer written and road tests. We also issue disabled parking permits, collect tolls, and clear toll violations.
In partnership with other state and local agencies, we offer additional services such as issuing certified copies of Florida birth certificates, concealed weapons permits, vehicle for hire permits, and hunting and fishing licenses. The taxes and fees collected are distributed in accordance with Florida Statutes to the appropriate agencies or municipalities.
