Tampa community opens critical resource center after hurricane devastation
Tampa, FL — October 24, 2024
TOWN N’ COUNTRY, Fla. (WFLA) — Critical resources and aid will be available for residents impacted by Hurricanes Milton and Helene in the Town ‘n’ Country area beginning on Sunday.
After the storm devastated the area and destroyed homes, officials are outlining the support available to help their community rebuild.
Hillsborough County Tax Collector Nancy Millan will speak alongside County Commissioner Harry Cohen, State Senator Jay Collins, State Representative Susan Valdez, and Congresswoman Kathy Castor, among others.
“This neighborhood wasn’t asked to evacuate, but flooded anyway,” County Commissioner Cohen said.
Cohen added that debris removal remains a main priority for the area. An investigation is also being launched regarding the flooding following Hurricane Milton and will undergo an assessment to hold the people in charge accountable.
Senator Collins shared several resources including SPA assistance for businesses at 1-800-659-2955 and loan programs for agricultural businesses at 1-800-342-3557. Hope Florida is also available for resources.
Residents can call 1-877-693-5326 for the state’s toll-free helpline.
State Representative Valdez encouraged residents that the community would rebuild during this difficult time.
