Hillsborough County Tax Collector honors an everyday hero. Doug Belden, Tax Collector recognizes Hillsborough County Sheriff Deputy Steve Donaldson for saving baby’s life.

HCTC is honored to recognize Deputy Steve Donaldson as an everyday hero. On November 4, 2016, Shakira Nelson ran frantically into the East Tampa office with her unresponsive 15-month old son in her arms. Deputy Donaldson immediately ran to the mother, took hold of the baby, checked his vitals and started to perform CPR. Eventually the child regained consciousness and started to breathe on his own. Paramedics arrived shortly after and took the child to hospital for observation.

On December 9, HCTC in conjunction with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office, reunited Deputy Donaldson with little Cory at the East Tampa office for an award ceremony to honor Donaldson for his heroism.
