TAMPA, FL – (June 16,2014)   Hillsborough County Tax Collector, Doug Belden announced that his office will begin offering road testing services at the East Hillsborough branch office.  The addition of road testing service is a transition of responsibilities from the Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicle Driver License as result of legislation passed in 2010 that mandates county Tax Collectors take over all driver license functions from the state by 2015.

The East Hillsborough Tax Collector office located at 2814 E. Hillsborough Ave. Bldg.2 will be a ROAD TESTING ONLY facility. This driver license office will provide road testing to new drivers seeking a Class E license as well as drivers in need of re-examination.

All road tests are scheduled in advance.  Appointments fill up fast; therefore, we encourage customers to schedule appointments up to a minimum of 30 days prior to your eligibility date to reserve a day and time and ensure that you will be able to take the road test as soon as you become eligible to do so.   Visit our website, www.hillstax.org, to schedule an appointment.

The tax collector’s offices offer limited driver license services which include original, transfer of out of state license, renewal, duplicate and replacement licenses and issuance of identification cards. Florida license reinstatement services are also available.

Road test services will continue to be conducted at the DHSMV offices located at 4100 W. M.L. King Jr. Blvd. and 10137 E. Adamo Drive, Suite 800A in the Brandon area.
