TAMPA, FL – (April 17, 2014) – The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s office recently partnered with the Florida Department of Health’s Bureau of Vital Statistics, to allow Florida-born citizens to get a certified copy of their birth certificate at the Tax Collector’s office.   This partnership will help make the process much easier since a birth certificate is one of the items needed to obtain a driver license or identification card.

“If a customer does not have their birth certificate, we don’t have to send them away to get it. We’ll be able to issue them a certified copy on the spot.” Belden stated. Birth certificates are currently being issued at the North Tampa office located at 3011 University Center Dr. Suite 150, in the Temple Terrace area.  Certified copies of FL birth certificates will be offered in our other full service branches by the end of September.

To get a certified copy of a FL birth certificate, customers will need to present a valid form of identification such as a driver license, Florida identification card, passport, military ID or any other acceptable government issued identification.  The cost of a certified birth certificate is $20.25.
