Concealed Weapon License Renewals Now Issued at Tax Collector’s office
Tampa, FL — May 4, 2017
TAMPA, FL – (May 4, 2017) Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam, partnered with Doug Belden, Tax Collector to pass legislation that extends an opportunity for residents of Hillsborough County to renew their concealed weapons licenses at the Tax Collector’s North Tampa branch office located on 3011 University Center Drive, Suite 150, Tampa, FL 33612.
“We pride ourselves in providing high quality state services at the local level. I commend Commissioner Putnam and his team for their continued partnership, “said Doug Belden.
Concealed weapon licenses are processed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS). However, due to rising demand, Tax Collector offices have been given the authority to accept renewal applications and print renewal licenses for eligible applicants. Licensees who are not Florida residents or who need to submit documentation of a name change will not be eligible to receive a renewal license from the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s office. Those applications can still be submitted at Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s office, but FDACS will print and mail the renewal license. A concealed weapon license may be renewed up to 150 days prior to expiration and up to 180 days after expiration with a $15.00 late fee. A CWL fee schedule can be located on our website.
There are currently more than 1.7 million concealed weapon licenses in Florida, and the department processed more than 237,000 applications for new licenses and 127,000 renewal licenses last fiscal year.
Customers are encouraged to schedule an appointment to avoid the wait. For more details regarding driver license services and scheduling an appointment, contact the Tax Collector’s office at 813.635.5200 or visit their web site at www.hillstax.org.
