Consumer Alert: Demolition Work Begins to Make Way for New Tax Collector Office
Tampa, FL — February 23, 2016
TAMPA, FL – (February 23, 2016) – On February 26th, 2016, Hillsborough County Tax Collector will close their East Hillsborough branch office. This site is shared with the Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) Bureau of Administrative Review. The DHSMV is expected to close their building at a later date. These closing are to prepare for the demolition of the existing buildings, making way for the construction of a larger, customer-friendly facility on the same site.
The Hillsborough County Tax Collector is making every effort to see that the transition between closing their current East Hillsborough facility and opening the new one goes as smoothly as possible. Beginning March 1st, driver license road tests will temporarily be conducted at the Drew Park office, located at 4100 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd. This location will serve as a temporary road testing location until the East Hillsborough facility is completed in the fall. Drivers needing to take a road test are required to schedule an appointment. Appointments may be scheduled by visiting the Hillsborough County Tax Collector website at www.hillstax.org.
For other tax collector services, residents of Hillsborough County may visit any of the seven other office locations or utilize online services offered on the Tax Collector’s website.
Once demolition of the current East Hillsborough branch office is complete, crews will break ground for a brand new 14,000 square foot facility to be built on the same property. In partnership with the State, the new office will include both Tax Collector services as well as some administrative functions of the DHSMV. The new building will feature a modern layout with expanded capacity to better serve customers.
