Hillsborough County motorists should benefit from fee reductions.
Tampa, FL — March 26, 2014
TAMPA, FL – (March 26, 2014) – Hillsborough County motorists should soon benefit from fee reductions. The Florida House of Representatives and Florida Senate recently passed bills that will lower registration fees by up to $25.00 per year. As a result, Doug Belden, Hillsborough County Tax Collector has opted to temporarily remove the biennial option (2 year renewal) on all registration notices which will potentially save taxpayers from renewing at the higher fee while the bill is pending Governor Scott’s signature. Upon the Governor’s approval the legislation would become effective on September 1st, 2014, and as a result, taxpayers will benefit from a savings of up to $25.00 a year when renewing their registrations. Based on last year’s number of biennial renewals, the fee reduction would mean a potential savings of over $2 million for the residents of Hillsborough County.
“As the Hillsborough County Tax Collector, it is part of my fiduciary responsibility to save taxpayers money when possible. Belden continues by stating, “Having the option of renewing biennially removed, will save taxpayers from paying more when renewing their registrations.
Our goal is to promote awareness and ensure our customers benefit from not having to pay the higher rate on a 2 year registration. “
Registrations can be renewed online at www.hillstax.org or at any of our branch offices conveniently located throughout the county. For additional information or questions, please call us at 813-635-5200.
