Hillsborough County Tax Collector Doug Belden to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.

TAMPA, FL – (May 6, 2020) Tampa Tiger Bay Club honors Hillsborough County Tax Collector Doug Belden for his dedication to our community tonight, Jan. 27 at  its fourth annual Lifetime Achievement Award Dinner at the Cuban Club in Ybor City.

Since taking office in 1998, Belden made the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office one of the most modern and efficient agencies in the state. The office has been recognized by the Sterling Council with its prestigious Governor’s Award, and the agency has maintained a customer satisfaction rate of over 96 percent for the past decade.

By focusing on continuous improvement and performance excellence, Belden has created an agency with national-best outcomes and metrics in its branches and its call and processing center.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my job as tax collector and interacting with the countless friends I’ve made throughout the years and I’m humbled and grateful to be a recipient of the Tiger Bay Club’s Lifetime Achievement Award,” Belden said. “It is my earnest hope that the office will continue to run with the highest level of efficiency and customer service under strong leadership. “

Under Belden’s leadership, the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office was the first agency in Hillsborough County and the first Tax Collector in the state to receive the Governor’s Sterling Award. The office later received Sterling’s Sustained Performance Excellence Award for continuing that excellence.

The Tiger Bay Club will also honor Hillsborough County’s Public Defender Julianne Holt for her years of dedication to the community.
