Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office Reaches 92% Vaccination Rate

Tampa, FL — November 3, 2021

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL. – Nancy C. Millan, Hillsborough County Tax Collector, announced today that her office reached an employee vaccination rate of 92%, with a forecasted 95% by the end of the year.

“What a testament to our entire team on this vaccination effort,” said Nancy Millan, Hillsborough County Tax Collector. “I am honored to work with such committed team members who made a personal choice to get vaccinated because of their obligation to keep our public and their coworkers safe,” she continued.

The Tax Collector’s office offered their employees three options in their

COVID-19 prevention plan: to get vaccinated, or if not vaccinated, to test weekly for COVID or test monthly for antibodies. These options are in line with other county agencies.

Additional incentives like a $500 incentive payment and paid time off, as well as the chance to win other prizes, were offered to all employees. They believe their approach of offering a number of incentives and options is directly responsible for their high vaccination rate.

COVID-19 safety measures enacted at the pandemic are still being utilized today, like facility cleaning protocol, touch-free doors and faucets, and plexiglass barriers in customer service areas.

“Employees also have the option to work from home short-term answering calls if they do contract COVID and are not showing any symptoms and are well enough to work if they choose,” Millan stated. “This option saves that employee from using their paid time off and supports our efforts to serve our customers.”

The Tax Collector’s office provides essential services to all of Hillsborough County, and even with limited capacity due to the pandemic, they were still able to serve over 800,000 customers in their branch offices, which is why their safety and preventive measures are necessary.
